Volunteers

Project Play YQR is grateful to the people who have offered the gift of their time towards this project.
If you're interested in volunteering with Project Play YQR, we would love to have you join us. Volunteer work usually includes managing schedules, verifying information, and updating events via Google Calendar. Although the work can be done virtually anywhere and anytime, we sometimes like to get together over coffee or snacks and do some work together. Perhaps you have another idea of how to enhance the organization that you can help out with. Everything we do is informed by the community. Get in touch if you're interested!

Partners

The Cathedral Area Community Association has partnered with us on initiating a fun, free, outdoor event promoting winter play each year in the Cathedral Village.

Ivy and Dean and Project Play YQR partner to offer 2SLGBTQ+ Allied Families Movie Days. We host movies and crafts at the Regina Public Library Film Theatre. The movie days are also an opportunity for families to offer thoughts and feedback on about 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion in the City of Regina.

Thank you to the Regina Early Years Family Resource Centre for collaborating on the Play at Home study. The REYFRC was responsive to the findings of the study and used the findings to support their programming and services. We have had a close relationship with the Regina Early Years Family Resource Centre since our incorporation in 2019 and are proud to highlight their wonderful spaces and programming in the city of Regina.

Funders

Thank you to the Cathedral Area Community Association for providing funding for us to hire Sydney Beaudin, a local designer to create a professional logo and branding materials for Project Play YQR. The Cathedral Area Community Association has also partnered with Project Play YQR to plan a fun winter event in the Cathedral Village neighbourhood and to produce and distribute play-promoting posters of the vibrant and playful Cathedral Village neighbourhood.

Thank you to the University of Regina's Community Engagement and Research Centre for providing funding for us to conduct a local study on how play was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We used this funding to do an in-depth qualitative inquiry into factors to play in and around the home, and developed resources (two free, public webinars; a podcast episode; several posters/ infographics summarizing the findings; a 50-page research paper; and social media content) surrounding the findings of the study. This study also informed our organization and the Regina Early Years Family Resource Centre, our partners on the project, moving forward in our unique service offerings to the community.

Thank you to KidsFirst for generous funding of Project Play YQR's Communities at Play program.

Thank you to the Regina Public Interest Research Group for funding towards the creation of play baskets that were curated and distributed to Regina families in need at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you to TakingItGlobal, the Government of Canada, and Canada Service Corps for supporting the book club in 2019. This grant allowed us to purchase food and books for people to eat, read, and connect over play-related books.

Business Sponsors

Thank you to Danielle Tocker Photography who has donated several photographs (with consent from families) for use on our website. Danielle is also our partner on our Capture the Magic of Winter project.
